Mikayla Li is a Toronto-based jewelry designer/ artist and painter. She graduated from OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design) majoring in Material Art and Design with a specific focus on jewelry design and fabrication. She is constantly inspired by the people she meets and the places she travels in the world.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Mikayla enjoys a fast-paced life and having stimulating conversations with others to unfold new and exciting possibilities. She believes that art and design are intertwined with one another and that art is fundamental to design. Fascinated with the complexities of the human body and mind, her works intend to explore, express and appreciate the emotion, spirit, mind and body.

Mikayla begins her journey in art and design with a passion of painting. The human face and body are central to her paintings as she express deep thoughts, raw emotions and genuine personalities of individuals through her brushstrokes. Jewelry design has become an outlet for Mikayla to embody the art of human body and mind in everyday life. Subject matter of her works ranges from feminism, activism to politics and human relationships. She sees jewelry as an extension of the human body. The choice of a piece of jewelry dictates not only a wearer’s identity but also his/her vision.
